Chiropractic Care
We specialize in correcting your body’s misalignments. Our goal is to ensure that your spine and the rest of your body are working harmoniously. To do so, we will help you develop a plan that will include passive therapies, chiropractic care, exercises and a healthy diet. There are so many options for your treatment plan. Each patient is provided with a tailor made plan designed by Dr. McDonald to work best for you and your lifestyle.
Chiropractic Adjustments
A chiropractic adjustment can make you feel so much better. Your body does not want to be out of alignment, and that’s exactly what an adjustment can help address. It is also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation. The adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. A chiropractic adjustment will assist in fixing these issues.
The goal of chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, increase the range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. Dr. McDonald will work with you to relieve this pain and get you back to being as pain free as possible every single day. All patients are able to receive Chiropractic Care. Whether you have surgical spinal fusions, osteoporosis or other conditions that you may think limit you from care, we can create a plan that will work for you. Many times patients have worried that they were excluded from care, but all techniques can be modified to work for your body.
Corrective Exercises
Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises reintegrate your body so that all of your parts are working synergistically. For example, Dr. McDonald may prescribe a heel lift to correct a leg length discrepancy, or she may use vibrational treatments to turn on muscle receptors to an injured area. Most patients will begin home exercises to strengthen the surrounding muscles and lengthen injured ligaments that may have been restricted for years. Your body is resilient and can recover from old injuries if the treatment is applied to the right area.
Sacral Occipital Technique
This is a non force technique that is wonderful for adults and children. Trauma can injure your spine and leave lasting affects. Patients often times have unresolved issues related to auto accidents, slips and falls, birth injuries, years of being over weight and sudden weight loss are just examples of the kinds of traumas we discover. Many times this technique involves Cranial adjustments that can produce dramatic improvements in a patient's life.
Conditions Treated
Patients experience so many life events that have an impact on their health. Education is a big part of our practice. Helping fix your issues are primary but we want to make sure you know when you need us again. Knowing that Chiropractic can help with the little bumps and bruises that happen in life can save you time and money in the future. We recommend that you come in and get a check up every 6 months because so much can change.
Auto Injuries
Even a “minor” crash can result in serious injuries like ligament sprains. This can lead to chronic pain and disability if not treated properly. In fact, research shows that early treatment is the best way to prevent long-term symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are effective because they help restore the healthy, normal function of your nervous system without the use of drugs or surgery.
Back Pain
Since back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide, it is vital to know how to prevent the cause of back pain. By maintaining a healthy diet and weight, remaining active and avoiding prolonged inactivity or bed rest are all important ways to avoid back pain. Before doing exercises or any physical activity, it is recommended to warm up and/or stretch.
